If you were in the market for a wearable high-def camcorder for this year’s snowboarding season just-ended (and, after all, who wasn’t?!) then this week’s announcement of the world’s first HD headware couldn’t have come at a worse time.

After all, the snow has all melted and you are going to have to wait all the way through to Winter 2009/2010 until you can properly try out Twenty20′s second-generation ContourHD wearable headcam out on the piste, capturing your mates’ dream method air in high def glory (and, more amusingly, his twenty-eight bail-outs beforehand…)

Better quality video

Twenty20′s YouTube-friendly wearable camcorder is of course just the ticket for all types of extreme sports, as well as more sedate, less extreme pastimes – if you just wanted to make a nice movie of your morning commute, for example (although your fellow Tube or bus passengers might give you some funny looks…).

Twenty20 claims to have ‘seriously improved’ the video quality, field of view, memory capacity and audio experience of its ContourHD.

The latest version saves your extreme/embarrassing commute movies on a microSD card (up to 16GB which equates to 8 hours of recording time) and features a 135-degree wideangle lens and laser-guided alignment system.

So, who is going to start the donations first so that I can upgrade to what one these bad boys?

So, without further a due here she is. The VholdR mounted onto the left hand side of my KBC VR-2. The camera is detachable and is held onto the helmet via the circluar helmet mount.

The helmet mount is double sided sticky tape. The tape is very sticky and has been tested to speeds of, erm …. well let’s just say on the autobahn it never came off at 192mph.

A new back tyre was fitted by the brilliant guys @ Moto Expert in France …. top boys!

We saw three countries on our tour including France, Italy and Spain. Some of the places included Abberville, Amens, Paris, Orleans, Vierzon, Issoudun, La Chatre, Gueret, Audbusson, Pu de Dome, Clermont Ferrand, Issoire, Ambert, St Etienne, Annony, Valence, Crest, Die, Sisteron, Digne les Bains, Entrevaux, Nice, Ventimigli, Montercarlo, Frejus, Avignon, Nimes, Montpellier, Beziers, Perpignan, Carcassonne, Castelnaudary, Albi, Cahores, Brive, Limoges.

Lots of the footage taken on he tour was thanks to the VholdR helmet cam! Without it some of the re-liveable footage would not have been possible. In total 3.5GB worth of footage was captured.

Some pictures are available in the Images page, but please be patient for the full compilation of events that took place…. a lot of editing is taking place to get a good bit of footage up!

The Baglux tail bag and Hein Gericke tank bank did the job effortlessly, and again I would have been lost without the tank bag!
